Jin Shin Jyutsu is a gentle art from ancient Japanese tradition, which promotes optimal health and well-being and facilitates our own profound healing capacity. Jin Shin Jyutsu is a valuable complement to conventional healing methods. Jin Shin Jyutsu induces relaxation, and greatly reduces the effects of stress. Stress has been widely recognized as causing everything from minor aches and pains to chronic health problems. The deep relaxation derived from Jin Shin Jyutsu brings balance to the body's energies, allowing the body to function better, feel better and heal more quickly. What is Jin Shin Jyutsu? In Japanese Jin means “knowing, compassionate human being,” Shin means, “divine nature” or “creation,” and Jyutsu (pronounced Jit-su) means “the art of.” Thus, Jin Shin Jyutsu can mean “the art of divine creation through compassionate human intent.” It’s based upon an all-inclusive, ever moving (changing) energy that circulates throughout the universe, within and without every organism. Jin Shin Jyutsu is a very ancient art designed in part to harmonize your physical energies. Jin Shin Jyutsu self-help sequences can be easily applied. One such sequence is described in this website. How does it work?Jin Shin Jyutsu employs twenty-six “safety energy looks” along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of the paths become blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonise the complete path of energy flow. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body and spirit. What happens?Jin Shin Jyutsu does not involve massage, manipulation of the bones or muscles, or use of substances. It is a gentle art, practiced by placing the fingertips over clothing on designated areas, to harmonise and restore the energy flow. This facilitates the reduction of tension and stresses which accumulate in the body through normal daily living. It is a gentle and unobtrusive, deeply relaxing, dynamic way of helping the body to help itself. The HistoryAccording to the Kojiki Record of Ancient Things, A.D. 712, which remains
in the Archives of the Imperial Palace in Japan, Jin Shin Jyutsu predates
written record. For millennia the Keys to the treasures of this Art were
verbally passed from generation to generation. Today, Jin Shin Jyutsu
is experiencing renewed popularity. It is non-invasive, gentle and quiet,
yet its powerful methods of rejuvenation make it helpful to virtually
everyone. What to expectA Jin Shin Jyutsu session generally lasts 40 minutes to an hour, and does not involve massage or use of substances. It is a gentle, yet powerful art, practiced by placing fingertips (over clothing) onto the safety energy locks in specific combination. A Jin Shin session begins with listening to the pulse, which reveals to the practitioner information about the current flow of energy and state of being of the client. It indicates where he or she needs help. Unlike western medicine, the emphasis is not on diagnosing, but on harmonising. All disease begins with blockages of energy, and the pulse shows the practitioner the specific energy points that need to be held to restore the harmonious flow, without creating additional stress in the client's mind about the condition. The remaining treatment consists of gently holding points in various combinations until complete harmony of energy and pulsation is established. There is no pain or physical manipulation. The practitioner uses his/her hands and "jumper cables" the energy in order to recharge the "battery of life", enabling universal energy to flow through the client's body and reawaken its natural healing ability. As simple as this technique is, it yields amazing results physically, as well as emotionally. It is effective in relieving pain; stiff, spastic, or strained muscles and joints; respiratory conditions; appetite imbalance; and reproductive difficulties. It has a dramatic effect on emotional problems, and people frequently have experiences of spiritual integration during or after a session. Stress is alleviated and the client leaves feeling much more centred and relaxed. Although for chronic conditions several sessions might be needed, improvement is usually experienced after only one session IntensivesWe offer rejuvenating intensive sessions. This is especially for those of you who do not live locally and want to partake in one or two sessions a day, from Monday through Friday. This gives one an opportunity to accrue the added benefits that come from receiving a number of appointments in close succession. (It also works out cheaper than individual sessions). Through self-help, Jiro Murai first proved the efficiency of the Art to himself and from his self-healing, began the journey of its rediscovery. In self-help, the student receives the empowering message through experience that he or she can actually be self-sufficient. It was Mary Burmeister who, in years of study and dedication, further condensed the essence of the teachings of the Art into three simple self-help books, which are unpretentious and unassuming, provide the student, advanced or neophyte, with the dynamic tools for self-sufficiency. These books are written from direct experience, they are not intellectual treatises and sometimes confound the western mind with their simplicity and pensive pace. Learning Jin Shin Jyutsu we discover that it is an innate part of our natural functioning, when a child sucks his thumb or fingers, when an individual presses his fingers to his forehead to concentrate, when you instantly reach to hold the point of a painful injury - these are a few examples of the instinctive reflexes which make use of the Jin Shin Jyutsu concept. Jin Shin Jyutsu engages one in self-study and self-help. Through the process of "Now Know Myself," we recognize the wisdom of the body, and we learn to interpret the messages provided and utilize them to restore balance. For those of us addressing existing stress or health disharmonies, or for those simply wishing to participate actively in maintaining health, harmony and well-being, the Art of Jin Shin Jyutsu is a simple and powerful tool available to all. Jin Shin Jyutsu has a long history, and a growing following around the world. Self-help process to harmonise the Main Central Vertical pathway The Main Central Vertical Flow is the source of our life energy. This
pathway runs down the centre of the front of the body and back up the
spine. Harmonizing the Main Central regularly helps you feel centred and
ensures that you will have plenty of energy. Some people find it calming
and use it to fall asleep, while others like to use it to clear away the
cobwebs upon awakening. For optimum results, do this daily.
Note: The right hand remains on the
top of the head while the left hand moves down the body until the final
step. For more information check out the following websites. Astrid’s
